Criticality: Student Voice, Student Identity
Criticality: Student Voice, Student Identity
'Student Voice, Student Identity' will be an immersive experience for educators to see how the arts, culture, community, and robust mentorship initiatives are integral parts of students' cultivating their voices by reimagining the art of teaching as a method of accessing creativity, building social/emotional well-being, empowering students' diversity of thought, and creating safe and collaborative spaces where storytelling can bring school communities together. Additionally, this course will provide educational leaders with the research and understanding of how to best support their students and educators by incorporating these education frameworks within their school system for during and after-school programming. Attendees will also have access to view Trey’s work with the Obama Foundation's My Brother's Keeper Alliance and how his signature spoken word program 'Our Greatness Is Our Story' is being used in districts across the country in partnership with Scholastic Publishing Company to leverage the power of poetry to cultivate students’ identity, leadership, and storytelling.
Course Facilitator: Your facilitator will be 2x Emmy Nominated Spoken Word Artist Trey Baker. Read more about Trey and his work with the Obama Foundation and Scholastic here.
Course Times and Dates: The sessions will be held on Thursdays, November 7th, 14th, 21st, and December 12th, at 7-8:15pm CST. The sessions will be recorded and made available to all participants.
